It’s official: movie theaters across the states are going to be packed this summer.

Since there are so many teams this year that want their movie to be that next big summer hit, we as viewers are in for a whirlwind of exciting films in the next coming months. With blockbuster movies that featured a snarky, gun-toting space raccoon, an enchanted castle filled with musically inclined household items, and hilarious Lego superheroes all being released earlier this year, 2017 is shaping up to be a brilliant year to visit the cinema.

So get excited! Here are nine movies coming out this summer that you should definitely make plans to go and see (ordered by release date).

 1) Everything, Everything – USA Release Date: May 19

Still playing in theaters, Everything, Everything tells the story of a young girl kept isolated in her home because of an illness that seems to make her susceptible to germs and sickness. She strikes up a friendship with her new next door neighbor, which causes her to question her lifetime of isolation and yearn for a life full of adventure and romance outside of the confinement of her house.

For fans of movies that will most likely warm your heart and bring you to tears, Everything, Everything seems like it’s going to do both (I suggest bringing tissues!).

2) Pirates of The Caribbean (5): Dead Men Tell No Tales – USA Release Date: May 26

If you’re a huge fan of the POTC franchise, the announcement of the fifth movie’s release date probably had you and all of your friends clearing your schedule to plan a day to go and see Dead Men Tell No Tales. With the introduction of a new, undead, and pirate-hating villain (played by Javier Bardem), and the return of fan-favorite characters from earlier movies in the series, Dead Men Tell No Tales looks like it’s going to be a legitimately good addition to the POTC movies.

3) Wonder Woman – USA Release Date: June 2

A superhero movie starring an amped-up version of one of the most recognizable superheroes of all time? Count me in! Wonder Woman is already receiving high ratings from film critics and has received a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Just from the trailers alone, we get a glimpse of some of the beautiful scenery, jaw-dropping explosions, and battles that look like they’ll have all of us leaning out of our seats in the movie theaters.

4) The Mummy – USA Release Date: June 9

It’s not a reboot of the old Mummy movies starring Brendan Fraser and company, but something else entirely — which, according to the rollercoaster ride of a trailer that’s been released, might not be a bad thing. It’s a whole new take on some of Universal Studio’s classic monsters (think Dracula, Frankenstein, etc.). Starring big names like Russell Crowe and Tom Cruise and featuring a trailer that will leave you wanting more, The Mummy looks like one movie that can’t be missed.

5) All Eyez On Me – USA Release Date: June 16

Straight Outta Compton told all of the world the backstories of the four core members that made up the famous rap group, NWA. It was a movie that dug past the surface of the members’ stage presence and let us as an audience see their pasts and the challenges that they faced to have their names cemented in the rap hall of fame.

All Eyez On Me is a movie that is going to show us the story of Tupac Shakur, one of the most famous rappers/writers of the ’90s. The soundtrack is bound to have us rocking in our seats and his story, played with passion by actor Demetrius Shipp Jr., is sure to have us think about Shakur with a new understanding.

6) Transformers: The Last Knight – USA Release Date: June 21

Another big action movie coming out this summer is the latest addition to the live-action Transformers movie series: Transformers: The Last Knight. With Optimus Prime, everyone’s favorite Transformer, gone, it’s up to a few select humans to unearth the key to saving a world that is at war with itself.

7) Despicable Me 3 – USA Release Date: June 30

I have no shame: I will most definitely be in line to see this movie! The Despicable Me franchise has shot out some absolutely adorable and hilarious movies that make my entire family laugh out loud and leave us with smiles on our faces once the credits start rolling. Action movies are great and usually have some great jokes tossed in there, but who doesn’t like to just sit back and have some good, mindless fun the whole movie?

8) Spider-Man: Homecoming – USA Release Date: July 7

It’s another Spider-Man reboot (what’s the deal, Marvel?) but it’s one that I’m going to have to get behind, being a Spider fan. Originally introduced in the Captain America: Civil War movie in 2016, fans were super excited to see the Spider back in action! Now, with his own movie, you can bet your wallet that fans will be lining up to see the latest reboot of everyone’s favorite web-slinging superhero.

9) War of the Planet of the Apes – USA Release Date: July 14

The third movie in the popular Planet of the Apes reboot series, War of the Planet of the Apes continues the tale of Caesar, the genetically enhanced ape whose only wish is to have a peaceful home for his species to live out their days. This series has been surprisingly good and the trailer says that this third installment will continue the pattern.
